What is Birth Trauma?
Birth trauma isn’t just about medical complications — it’s any experience during pregnancy, labour, birth, or the early postnatal period that leaves you feeling scared, overwhelmed, or stuck. It can show up as flashbacks, anxiety, guilt, or difficulty bonding, and can affect your emotional wellbeing long after the birth. You are not alone, and your feelings are valid.
The 3-Step Rewind is a gentle, effective technique designed to release the heavy emotions tied to difficult experiences, without making you relive them. Through deep relaxation and guided visualisation, we work to separate the traumatic feelings from the memory itself, helping you to feel calmer, lighter and more in control. It’s a safe, non-judgemental approach that allows healing at your pace, giving you the freedom to move forward with confidence.
The process takes place over three sessions, usually spaced about a week apart:
Session 1: We talk through your story at a pace that feels right for you, helping you feel heard, validated and safe. You’ll also learn relaxation techniques to support you between sessions.
Session 2: Using gentle guided relaxation and visualisation, we begin the rewind process — allowing your mind to process the memory in a safe, supported way.
Session 3: We check in on how you’re feeling, build on the changes already made, and strengthen your sense of calm, confidence and resilience moving forward.
Sessions can take place online or in person across Woking, Guildford and surrounding areas, with ongoing support in between if you need it.

No, it’s not counselling or psychotherapy. It’s a structured, guided process that helps your mind and body safely revisit, process and reframe the memory — without reliving it. Many people experience significant emotional relief after just one session.
It’s for anyone who feels they are still emotionally affected by a past perinatal experience — such as a traumatic birth, NICU stay, or breastfeeding challenges. If it still makes your chest tighten or keeps playing on your mind, this could be helpful.
The full process takes place over three sessions, often spaced over 1–2 weeks. Some people feel lighter after the first, while others benefit most after the third. I also include gentle support and follow-up.
Yes — it’s non-invasive, doesn’t involve medication or physical touch, and is fully guided and client-led. It’s about calming the nervous system, not digging into the trauma.
Not at all. You stay in control. You don’t need to share more than you’re comfortable with — the process works even with minimal detail.
Yes. This technique works beautifully via Zoom and is just as effective in a calm, private setting at home. In-person support is also available depending on your location.
