A personalised 90-minute 1:1 feeding course (online or in-person) for expecting and new parents who want to feel confident and prepared for their baby’s feeding journey.
Knowing what to expect, understanding how feeding works and having the right support can make a significant difference to your confidence in those early days.
Preparing to Breastfeed gives you the knowledge, practical skills and support to get the feeding journey off to the best possible start.
Feel confident. Feel prepared and feed your baby your way.
Most antenatal courses cover feeding, but there is a lot to know and often not enough time to really explore it.
Preparing to Breastfeed gives you dedicated time to focus on your baby’s feeding, ask your questions and understand what to expect once your baby arrives.
It works perfectly as a standalone feeding course or as an add-on to your existing antenatal course.
Understanding how feeding works before your baby arrives can help you feel more confident when those first days come.
We cover the things parents need to know, including:
You’ll leave with practical knowledge, a clearer idea of what to expect and the confidence to make informed decisions about your baby’s feeding.
What you will get from the course:
90 minutes, 1:1 and completely personalised
No generic group class. No hours of videos.
We focus on you, your baby, your questions and your feeding goals — whether that’s breastfeeding, combination feeding, expressing or keeping your options open.
Fountain of knowledge
Understand newborn feeding cues, cluster feeding, latch and positioning, milk supply, expressing, bottles, nappies and what normal feeding can look like. All delivered from a highly qualified breastfeeding consultant and infant feeding specalist.

Know what’s normal, understand common challenges and learn when and where to get help, before you’re exhausted and trying to find answers at 3am.
Your birth/support partner can join you
Give your partner or key support person the knowledge they need to understand feeding and know how to support you.
Take the knowledge home
You’ll receive a comprehensive PDF handbook so you can refer back to what you’ve learned once your baby arrives.
Support AFTER birth
This is what makes Preparing to Breastfeed different.
Once your baby arrives, you’ll have a postnatal check-in call to ask questions, clear up anything you’re unsure about, get reassurance, or simply have someone cheer you on.
We learnt so much! There were so many things Vicky taught us that I hadn't even thought about. I am so glad we found her and took her Preparing to Breastfeed course.
Our baby ended up arriving early. Because we had taken the Preparing to Breastfeed course, I knew exactly what we needed to do and how to advocate for myself and my baby during our extended NICU stay. My little one is now 9 months and we are still going strong with breastfeeding and this is all down to what we learnt in this course.
Perfect.
Preparing to Breastfeed is the ideal addition to your antenatal education.
Your antenatal course covers a lot. This gives you 90 dedicated minutes focused entirely on feeding, with a fully qualified professional and the opportunity to ask all those questions you didn’t know you had.

I'm Vicky, a qualified breastfeeding counsellor and breastfeeding consultant, and I've breastfed my own three children well into toddlerhood. I've navigated allergies, mastitis, hospital admissions, NICU stays and breastfeeding after C-sections, so I know that breastfeeding doesn't always go exactly to plan. My aim is simple: To make sure you know what I wish all parents wanting to breastfeed know and to leave feeling confident and excited for your new journey into motherhood. x
I am here to help you 7 days a week and respond within 24 hours. Plus, you can find most answers to your questions right on this page.
No. Preparing to Breastfeed is a standalone feeding course, so you don’t need to have completed another antenatal course. If you are already doing one, it works perfectly alongside it by giving you dedicated time to focus specifically on feeding.
No. The course is completely personalised to your feeding goals. We can cover breastfeeding, bottle feeding, combination feeding and expressing, so you can feel prepared whatever feeding looks like for your family.
That’s absolutely fine. The session is tailored to you, so we focus on what you already know, what you want to understand better and the questions you still have. There is no one-size-fits-all approach.
That is exactly why preparation can be so valuable. We talk about what is normal, common challenges, how to recognise when something isn’t quite right and where to get help. You will also have a postnatal check-in call after your baby arrives, so you don’t have to navigate those early questions alone.
Yes. Your birth partner or another key support persons are very welcome. Having a team around you who understands newborn feeding and knows how they can support you can make a real difference in those early days.
Supporting you every step of the way
